Concerts

We present concerts in Saltburn three or four times a year. Generally, our policy is to showcase artists from the North East and Yorkshire although we are not adverse to feature those from elsewhere. As we run on a non profit basis we do need to keep costs within sensible boundaries so we do ask that any artists who contact us keep this in mind.

Our concerts are held at Saltburn Golf Club which has stunning views of Saltburn. It also boasts ample car parking and excellent disability access.

Gilded Thieves
Saltburn Golf Club 25th November 2016

I first heard Gilded Thieves at Bamfest 2015. What impressed me most was their musicality and joi de vivre. Full of life, they play exciting upbeat music. Laura Jackets’ amazing voice blended beautifully with David Fitzgerland’s on songs like “Run” to which David added some tight and strong rhythm guitar. The band formed four years ago in Newcastle. Though violinist Sarah Cardnell and John Dalziel (mandolin, vocals) were missing new members Ray Tsal (fiddle), Joey Campbell (bass) and John Tilbury (cahon) helped boost the sound.

Gilded Thieves played a range of superb covers; from “Tennessee Whiskey” by Dean Dillon and Linda Hargrove, originally written in 1981, then popularised by Chris Stapleton last year, to AC/DC’s “You Shook me all Night Long”.
Not a group to take themselves seriously, the band finished their first set surprisingly with the wonderful “I Wan’na Be Like You” from “The Jungle Book”. Stand out songs were “Shipwreck” and “Jester’s River”, a song currently being recorded for a new project. “Ill Fitting Shoes” featured an excellent vocal lead from David. Special mention must go to the folk rock number “The Raven” with its lively changes of pace.

Ray is a wonderful fiddle player, who plays with vitality. Joey’s bass lines were intricate and powerful by turns with great percussive backing from John’s cahon. Laura’s voice soars beautifully over David’s powerful guitar. Together Gilded Thieves produce magic!

It was a brilliant night; Donna, Ray and Graham set the tone and Gilded Thieves took up the challenge and ran with it. The music was fabulous and great fun! Keep an eye and ear out for Gilded Thieves, they are going places!
